Friday WOD Challenge #4 - The Lumberjack 20 (Modified)

Hello Pirate Volleyball Team,

This week's WOD is called The Lumberjack 20:

Run 400 meters/20 push-ups
Run 400 meters/20 elevated push-ups (feet on bench, chair or box)
Run 400 meters/20 sit-ups
Run 400 meters/20 walking lunges (each step counts as one, so 10 each leg)
Run 400 meters/20 burpees
Run 400 meters/20 scissor jumps using alternating leg action
Run 400 meters/20 double-unders

This is a great strength and endurance workout! It is done for time. I'll keep the post short this week; however, I want to challenge everyone who posts this weekend to put your favorite, or one of your favorite quotes on this week's post.  I've listed a couple of Muhammad Ali quotes in the past.  I loved watching him because he backed up everything he said, and I truly believe, worked hard to earn his great accomplishments.  Either way, I love the Impossible Is Nothing quote...here it is:

Have A Great Workout!

  1. Hi everybody :) This workout was killer!! But I did like how after every 400 meters it was a different exercise, that helped to keep me going! My final time was 19:55. We're getting closer and closer to August :)

  3. Hello all :) This one was rough, but I felt great after! My time was 18:53. Does anybody have a preference to doing the WOD first and then the friday lifting workout, or lifting first then WOD? I can't decide which order I like better.
One of my favorite quotes is "Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside of you that is greater than nay obstacle"-Christian D. Larson

  4. Happy Friday everyone! This one was definitely hard, but it felt great to finish. My time was 17:34. I completely agree with Nicole in that the different exercises kept me going through each 400! It kind of reminded me of an advent calendar for Christmas- I wouldn't look at what the next workout was until I finished the 400, so while I was running I would try and guess which one it would be then be surprised. Lame, I know, but the more you distract yourself while working out the easier it seems and faster it goes by!
One of my favorite quotes is "It's not the will to win that matters-everyone has that. It's the will to prepare to win that matters." -Paul Bryant

  5. Happy Friday and hi everyone :) I'm sorry I haven't been posting my times, I just made a blog account and checked it out. My workout time for today was 19:56. It was a toughie but the feeling afterwards was rewarding. It motivates me to think of doing it for you girls as teammates as well! My quote I chose for this week is "It always seems impossible until it's done." Nelson Mandella. I thought this quote is a fitting quote for workouts and the feeling you get after and the mental aspect it takes to believe you can do it. I hope you all have a great day and I am looking forward to meeting you all :)

  6. My time for today was 20:42, and I agree with everyone else...a tough workout! Way to go girls! I know others will jump on board soon. To answer Mallorie's question, I think doing the WOD before is better than after, and ideally with some rest time in between. That being said, it's your own preference that should prevail. I know some of you have jobs, other commitments and might be strapped for time. The goal is that the workouts are not too time consuming, that you get stronger, gain endurance, quickness and stay healthy. If the workouts are meeting those goals then we're moving in the right direction. Go Bucs!

  7. I always forget to post afterwards!! … Just like all of you, this was tough but felt great to finish! My time was 20:38.
One of my favorite quotes is actually from our sports radio announcer from home. "If you're not practicing, somewhere, someone else is, and when they meet you, they will beat you."
Hope everyone is having a good summer :)

Here is one of my favorite athletic quotes: "To me, teamwork is the beauty of our sport, where you have five [six] acting as one. You become selfless." - Coach Mike Krzyzewski (Duke Basketball)

  10. Hello everyone! Wow, that was a tough one. By the time I got to the burpees, my legs felt like they were going to fall off!! My time was 18:57.
A quote I like is: "I am an ordinary person who has been blessed with extraordinary opportunities and experiences. Today is one of those experiences."
This reminds me to be grateful for the opportunities I have to not only play volleyball but to also do things such has running and jumping. And instead of looking at conditioning as a pain, this quote challenges me to look at it as an amazing opportunity to train and improve--something that not everyone gets a chance to do.

  11. Hello everyone! sorry this is so late, I did this workout yesterday morning before work but for some reason it wont let me post from my phone, so this is my first chance on a computer! My time was 20:33 and my quote is "Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle."
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! :)

  12. Hello team! I also forgot to post my time after I finished this workout. It was definitely a challenge! I got 23:04. A quote that inspires me when I am having a tough time is "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13. I hope that you all had a fun weekend!

  13. Finally putting my post up due to internet difficulties last week apparently!! Sorry:

My time was 17:56! This workout was very difficult, especially since I have done my share of 400's through the years of track and wasn't looking forward to doing 7 of them, but it felt so good to finish! This one would have been better to do with other people around to help push each other I think! My quote is "A pint of sweat will save a gallon of blood." To me this means that putting in all your hard work and sweat before hand, or all the time, is going to help you succeed when you are challenged to the max. Love you all!
